Who are we?
Watch our video!
We are a local group who plan, implement and maintain community planting projects, focussing on heritage sites and providing planters and plants throughout the village of Halton in the Lune Valley. We do this through fundraising and by working with the Parish Council and local residents.
Our general community planting is funded through money raised at the annual Plant Sale and the biennial garden safari.
The group meets weekly to undertake community gardening in the village. The areas we care for include the terrace at the Centre (village community centre), the Burial Ground, a wildflower bank on the field at the Centre, open areas at the top and middle of the ginnel path from High Road to Low Road, and at the Halton sign on Low Road.
Individual members take responsibility for the maintenance of planters throughout the village..
Recent Work
The renovation of the Memorial Jubilee Garden has been widely praised. We were able to renovate and restore the Memorial Jubilee Garden as a result of generous donations from the Duchy of Lancaster, Lancaster City Council Community Voluntary Solutions, the Lune Hydro Trust, Lancashire County Council Members’ Grant, and a DPD Eco Award. In addition we received donations in kind from Logs Direct and HiQ garage. We have also been the grateful recipients of contributions from local individuals.
